Sen. Al Franken ripped into White House senior adviser David Axelrod this week during a tense, closed-door session with Senate Democrats.
Five sources who were in the room tell POLITICO that Franken criticized Axelrod for the administration’s failure to provide clarity or direction on health care and the other big bills it wants Congress to enact.
Last November, after Tennessee Republican Sens. Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander authored an op-ed in a local paper defending their opposition to a Franken amendment, Franken confronted both men on the floor — and grew particularly irritated with Corker.
He lashed out at Corker and a staff member in a follow-up meeting about the matter, several people said. Franken also clashed with South Dakota Sen. John Thune, No. 4 in GOP leadership, last month in a scathing speech during the health care debate, and staffers have reported other run-ins.
I'd ask why the people of Minnesota sent a loud mouth jerk like Franken to represent them but we all know the answer. Norm the Nimrod Coleman thought he could win the election by pissing all over his base and kissing ass on the left. Well how did that work out for you Norm?
Republicans and Democrats should agree that the binary system we have sucks. Just take a look at this list of some truly terrible candidates:
Nationally:
John McCain (asshole)
John Kerry (lying POS)
Al Gore (Insane)
Bob Dole (Good guy, shitty campaign)
Walter Mondale (Loved tax increases)
Minnesota
Al Quie (Religious nutjob)
Skip Humphrey (all name, no cattle)
Pattie Wetterling (Dead kids don't make for great campaigns)
Roger Moe (Really?)
Mike Hatch (Al Franken's asshole twin)

Franken — a comedian turned liberal talk show host — vowed to keep a relatively low profile when he arrived in the Senate over the summer after a protracted legal battle with former GOP Sen. Norm Coleman. But he has developed a reputation among his colleagues as one of the more aggressive personalities on the Hill.
And if you believed that, you'll believe that Obama will only raise taxes on "the rich" and under Obamacare you'll be able to keep your doctor.
I'm surprised Al hasn't been arrested for assault. The man has serious issues with self-control.

From what I hear he was not the only Democrat that expressed their frustration and anger at the presidents staff and David Axelrod in particular. I'm glad that he expressed his frustration in this meeting and I consider his actions more as passion for his role in the Senate than a self-control issue. At least he had the guts to do this in the same room as these folks rather than taking it to the media.

Wouldn't everybody like to yell at Axelrod for what he is helping to do to our country?

Franken is a legendary jerk.
At the '04 national GOP convention Franken had to be physically restrained from assaulting a another host over some radio argument. I suppose you could call that passion, I would call it anger or control issues.
On KQRS this morning some DC staffer informs them that Franken always has horrendous bad breath and likes to "talk" right into peoples faces. Staff, pages, and other senators flee when he shows up to avoid the stench.
That has nothing to do with anything, but I find it amusing because he's such a dick.

Al Franken, all around Jerk
