McCollum, Ellison vote to continue funding
The House has voted to deny all federal funding for ACORN, the community organizing group that has been caught up in several scandals.
The House action came several days after the Senate took a similar vote to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN.

Most people that point and say, "racist" are liars. Just look at the New York Times Maureen Dowd. These people have quite active imaginations, spending most of their time looking for something they can spin as racist. A good many of them use it as an offensive tactic. They can't win an argument so they resort to name calling. Try asking these people to show the proof of racism and they can't. Jimmy Carter's comments should prove that.
It's such a tired and boring accusation, I think most of America, including myself, just let it go in one ear and out the other, just like the little boy who cried wolf. That's too bad if there happens to be a case of real racism going on. Most people I believe just tune out. The race card has been played too many times by too many people.
I will no longer mention racism, or a racism based accusation in any of my posts any longer. I'm tired of it. And that's all I've got to say on this subject.

There have been three video's of ACORN criminal activity within a week, more are due to be released today. Last night the senate finally decided to cut off funding to ACORN. Why was ACORN getting any funding in the first place? A criminal investigation is in order. This is organized crime, I'm sure we all agree on that. But the question is, where has Barack Obama been hiding? I haven't heard a peep out of him.
You would think this scandal, ACORN's marriage to the unions, particularly SEIU (headquartered under the same roof in Louisiana) with the trail leading straight to the government. You would think the president would say something, anything about the corruption that looks like it will lead right back to his own doorstep. Wait a minute. Oh! Now it makes sense. Nevermind!

Well I'm back from vacation. Almost two weeks of glorious weather up on Madeline Island, it was perfect! So much so that I'm counting down the days until we go back up for the Apple Festival. Did a little blogging from up there, a lot of boating, a whole lot of relaxing and a little golf to boot. Now the reality of the daily grind is beginning to set in.
A couple of news worthy events happened since I've been gone, the biggest of course was "the ACORN tapes." If that doesn't prove ACORN is an organized criminal enterprise like the mafia, I don't know what does. I've been saying for quite some time over on my blog that Justice should go after ACORN using RICO. Only now are some circles in D.C. talking about that.
I'm not going to spend the duration of this post trashing ACORN. We all know they're scumbags and an organized criminal entity. What I want to talk about is something that's equally as bad. The media.
Two amateur journalism students broke this thing. Let me run that by you one more time. Two amateur journalism students broke this thing. Where has 60 Minutes been hiding? How about Dateline or 20/20? ACORN's activities haven't exactly been top secret over the last 10 or 15 years.
When the story of the first tape broke, nobody except Fox covered it. Same with the second tape. It wasn't until Saturday afternoon that the Associated Press ran a watered down story. I've seen nothing in any other news outlet. Both our newspapers here in the Twin Cities, to the best of my knowlege have ignored this story.
ACORN is set to receive 8.5 billion dollars of our tax money. Why? Does anybody know? They aren't part of the government, so why are they getting our money? I don't remember giving our subordinates permission to give our money to that criminal organization, do you? No questions from the media, just silence.

Here we go again with the Muslims. I've had enough "celebrating diversity" I don't want to do it anymore. I've had enough of all this kowtowing crap known as "political correctness" and "tolerence." I'm fed up with it. If you want to continue doing it, fine. But don't expect to continue doing it on my dime. The bank is closed.
From the cashiers that won't do their jobs because it violates their religion/culture, and they are accomodated in the name of tolerence while celebrating diversity! The women that refused to wear a uniform because it violated their religion/culture. The taxi drivers. The religious footbaths in schools along with prayer rooms, TiZA Academy who is now threatening to sue the State for the State's investigation into teaching Islam on taxpayer money.

Can most of us (I say most, because all won't be capable) s**tcan the Left-Right, Republican-Democrat rhetoric for just a minute? Yeah I know, I'm real guilty of that myself, I admit it, but not in this post.
Do most of us agree we have a runaway, out of control government? I think it's pretty safe to say "yes." Fact: Our deficit this year is in the trillions. That's unheard of. Our national debt right now is 11.7 trillion dollars.
Some more facts. The government has taken over General Motors, and to a lesser extent, Chysler. BaracK Obama fired the CEO of GM, Rick Wagner. The government has a "pay czar" that decides how much money CEO's can make with legislation at the ready to include companies that did not recieve bailout money.
The climate bill, aside from it being a massive tax on every American, it is also legislation that dictates to the energy companies what types of energy they may produce. The Health Care Reform bills are socialized medicine giving the government access to roughly all aspects of your life. That's not rhetoric, that's fact. That's all I'm talking about are facts.
There is a bill in the senate (S 773) right now that will likely pass with some Republican support that will hand control of the internet over to the government in an "emergency." The government will effectively control what is on the internet in this country, much like the Peoples Republic of China. The internet was never meant to be regulated.
Now, for a guy like me that is a right-wing terrorist according to the Dept. of Homeland Security, I get shut down. They steal my 1st Amendment right. All I have to do is say something the government deems "dangerous" and there you go! I know quite a few people that would be ecstatic if I were shut up, but, something to keep in mind. When the new administration and president are sworn in January 20th of 2013, guess what? You are the one's that will be shut up. It won't be so funny and such a great idea then, will it? It comes down to this. You either believe in free speech or you don't. It's that simple.
Let's talk about Van Jones, Barack Obama's special advisor on energy policy. Van Jones is a communist. No, that's not rhetoric, he really is a communist, and a self avowed communist to boot. Remember, this post is about the facts, nothing else. Why did the President of the United States appoint a communist to his inner circle as a special advisor? Why does the president have the ear of a communist? Can anybody imagine President John F. Kennedy appointing a communist as a special advisor?
Now that I've pointed out a small portion of the facts that are happening in this country, and we have established another fact that we see government growing and our liberty dwindling, I would like you to read the quote below and just take a moment to think about things.
"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." - John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775

Have you noticed? Have you been watching the news? I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but wasn't there more Michael Jackson coverage on the networks than there is of Sen. Kennedy's passing? Seems to me you couldn't turn the channel without Whacko Jacko this, Whacko Jacko that, yet, a longtime prominant politician that has touched every Americans life in one way or another since 1962 hasn't gotten a third of the coverage of a drug addicted lunatic performer. Our values sure have changed in my lifetime, not for the better I might add.
From the time we heard Jacko was rushed to the hospital, it was solid, constant Jacko coverage on cable news for at least 24 straight hours. We had that idiot, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) come up with HRes 615 which was congress honoring Michael Jackson, she gave that big, embarrassing speech at his memorial that made most normal people want to vomit, yet I haven't heard what she's said about Kennedy's passing either verbally or in a statement.
I'm not suggesting there should be wall to wall Kennedy coverage on the news, and they will probably turn the Kennedy memorial service in to a circus like they did with Paul Wellstone, but that's not the point. When the media spends more time idolizing Jacko, and less time devoted to Kennedy, it speaks volumes about our society.

So! Has everybody seen the new PETA billboard? The one with the fat chick that says "Save the whales" and then goes on to say, "Lose the blubber, go vegetarian." The photo can be found here.
I'm sure we can all agree that PETA is a bit kooky. Actually, radical. Didn't they make the domestic terrorist watch list? I think they did. Speaking of kooky PETA type radicals, the Obama Science Czar, John P. Holdren seems to fall in line with PETA. He thinks animals should have rights and be able to go to court and sue. But this post isn't about our Junk Science Czar, it's about PETA.
What PETA and like minded people don't seem to understand is that man is a carnivore (meat eater), the same as a bear, lion or hyena. It's called nature. Man is a part of nature and the environment, just as much so, as the animals and plants, although the kooky environmentalists would like you to believe otherwise.

I stumbled on to something this morning that I think could be a really great idea regarding health care. Maybe someone else has already thought of it, but I haven't seen it. The system is not broken. Most people with health insurance (85%) are happy with what they have. So why would the government want to scrap an entire system and replace it with a socialized one that will not work and that we can not afford?
Oh sure, there are some tweaks that need to be done. The two biggest in my view are tort reform and the pre-existing condition issue. I think it's pretty safe to say that both sides agree that some sort of reform is necessary. I also believe I found a way to do it without involving the government.
There are many PAC's out there with lot's and lot's of members, and they have tens, hundreds of millions of dollars, probably billions when you combine them all. Instead of spending all that money on attack ads, protests, and other unproductive things along those lines, why not join forces and create a charity or co-op of some kind to help the people that need and want coverage get it? The funds are certainly there. In other words, put your money where your mouth is. Take action. I believe those were Barack Obama's words. Take action, make a difference.
And by joining forces with a common goal in mind, we might actually start communicating as a nation again, and have a little respect going on and be able to accomplish something great, together. That's the American way. If you see a problem, you take it upon yourself to fix it. You don't wait for the government.
Anyway. That's the solution I've come up with.

Just what is a representative? Well, simply put, he or she is supposed to represent the people and give them a voice in D.C. In an ideal world, you go out and talk with your constituents, and vote according to their wishes. Well, that's how its supposed to work.
Running away and hiding from the people you represent, then voting against their wishes, well, that's really not representing the people, is it? That's exactly what a growing number of Democrats are doing.
- Rep. Steve Israel (D-LI) held a health-care "roundtable" Thursday night, but made the event "invitation only."
- Rep. Scott Murphy of the Albany area didn't send out a release about a Tuesday health meeting until the next day, after the event was over.

Well the Obama goons of SEIU beat a man named Kenneth Gladney. I'm sure everyone know's that except those in the mainstream media, which is exactly the direction of this post. Why no media outrage? Why no activist outrage and protests? Why no calls for social justice? Why no protests against the government for using La Cosa Nostra tactics? Where's Al Sharpton? Kenneth Gladney was beaten by white union goons. Where are the cries of racism?
All of this hatred, violence, and tyranny is foreign to us. What's the common denominator? Barack Obama and the Democrats in congress. And I'd like to thank 53% of the voters for making it all possible. Without your vote, none of this would be happening. Change we can believe in!
Anybody find the rock that the media and all those social justice advocacy groups have been hiding under? This is a bigger story than Rodney King, yet the media and the advocacy groups are noticeably silent. Matter of fact, so are all those Democrat politicians that falsely claim they care so much for the little guy, the weak and the poor and downtrodden. Why bother with them when next on the list is amnesty and you can buy 20 million new voters! (and also give them taxpayer funded healthcare).

One of the things I've been trying to do is point out how bad, intrusive, and unconstitutional (Article 1 Section 8, aka enumerated powers) this so called health care bill really is. I've pointed things out that are in the bill and linked to the bill, but not specific items and my reasoning behind that is I really want you to read the bill, all of it, not just a portion.
Well today is a little different, just because the only real network news these days is reporting an item that really has nothing to do with health care, tucked away in the health care bill, and they are reporting where it is, so I assume talk radio and other blogs will do the same. The cat is out of the bag in other words.
If this passes, the government will have real time access to your bank accounts and be able to track what you spend, where you spend, and how much money you have. Is that the governments business?
Here's one of the many scenario's I see. The government will then know your personal eating habits, lifestyle risk factors, etc... and if it doesn't approve, well, I think you can put two and two together to make four.
And this is one of the reasons I believe that the government was so hellbent on socializing the banks and financial sector. Think about it. It makes perfect sense.
‘‘(D) enable the real-time (or near real-time) determination of an individual’s financial responsibility at the point of service and, to the extent possible, prior to service, including whether the individual is eligible for a specific service with a specific physician at a specific fa11 cility, which may include utilization of a machine-readable health plan beneficiary identification card; (page 58 lines 5-15).

I feel like a broken record when it comes to this subject, but given the fact that so many people are willing to blindly follow this president on anything he says, it's time to start kicking the dead horse again.
There is no such thing as man-made global warming/climate change. It is a myth. Al Gore says the polar ice caps will be melted by 2013. Really? We all know the Earth has been in a cooling trend since 1998. Even the evidence before our very own eyes would confirm that. The last three winters have been cold, it snowed in Iraq, Las Vegas, Mexico, Lake Superior froze entirely, twice in 6 years. That normally happens only once in 20-50 years. The cold summer we’ve had this year, with the only exception being the Pacific Northwest.
And what about this? If the planet has a fever, and we are heating up, this can not be happening:
Last month was the coldest July on record in International Falls, according to the National Weather Service.
The average temperature for the month was 58.8 degrees. That’s 7.3 degrees below normal, and 0.6 degrees below the previous record, set in 1992.
Both cold weather occurrences happened during the so called “global warming era”. 1992, and now in 2009.
Like I’ve said numerous times, it isn’t happening, and those that say it is, have something to gain at somebody else’s expense. Follow the money. Carbon trading last year (2008) was a 126 billion dollar business. Remember, the government gets to tax the carbon market to get their “fair share,” in other words, government greed. And greedy profiteers have their hands in the cookie jar as well. This has nothing to do with anything except money, power, and greed.

The healthcare bill and raising taxes to pay for it ranging from the governments definition of "the rich" to healthcare benefits to restaraunt foods and soda pop just to name a few. The Climate Kook Bill. A massive tax that will hit just about every person and business. Barney Fank deciding corporate pay. And the mortgage bailouts.
Charlie Rangels tax increase proposals which will become law and raise taxes. The stimulus, all of it, the whole thing. And yes, even cash for clunkers. What I've just stated barely scratches the surface, and when I think of all this government, I'm reminded of a quote by Thomas Jefferson, "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

The one thing that really gets me are the people that claim the health care bill isn't socialism, and will be cheaper and better than what we have now. Or, the people that just claim it's a good idea.
I get tired of the uninformed, ignorant arguments. So I'm giving the uninformed and the ignorant the opportunity to read the bill in its current form.
Click here to read the bill.
That's right, read the bill before you argue with me, or anybody else. Read the whole bill, all 1,018 pages, study it, and know it. Then and only then, do you have the right to debate.
Do what Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) won't. Read the bill. It is vitally important everybody knows what this government has planned.

No shock as to what to expect whenever the government steps in to screw things up with everything they do, including, as we all know, health care. For those of you big government lovers that falsely believe government will make things better and more efficient, name one program the government has done right and not made a maze of bureaucracy. And as we know, bureaucracy is waste, and waste costs money.
According to the Washington Times this morning, House Democrats would create at least a dozen new federal programs, boards and task forces, contributing to the already 1 trillion dollar plus unsustainable, unaffordable price tag which in reality, will be double the estimate.
What would a government program be without pork? And you know the health care bill is stuffed with pork, right? There are billions tucked away for walking paths, streetlights, jungle gyms, and even farmers’ markets.
Shall we not overlook one other fact the majority party did. They killed a Republican amendment to exclude illegal aliens. In other words, the congressional Democrats have decided the American taxpayer will pay for the health care of illegal aliens if this Soviet style of health care passes. Might I suggest, since I feel so guilty about being an American, and it's just not fair that we have the best of basically everything, that we Americans just go ahead and pick up the tab for not only illegal aliens health care, but everybody else on the planet Earth that does not have access to health care! And we'll throw in constitutional rights for those people too while we're at it.

I have to disagree with Ed. This was no apology. You don't judge someone by their "intent" you judge them by their actions. Sometimes, "I'm sorry" goes a long way. Officer Crowley and the Cambridge P.D. didn't get that.
I want to make clear that in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically -- and I could have calibrated those words differently. And I told this to Sergeant Crowley.
I apologize. Anybody see those two words? I can't seem to find them. Where are they? Somebody help me out!
The fact that it has garnered so much attention I think is a testimony to the fact that these are issues that are still very sensitive here in America. So to the extent that my choice of words didn't illuminate, but rather contributed to more media frenzy, I think that was unfortunate.
He just doesn't get it. He created the issue, and as usual, the cops were overzealous and good old Henry Gates was victimized. How has this helped race relations? It hasn't. Obama and his pompous attitude just added gas to the fire and he still doesn't get it, or accept responibility for his part.
The full transcript of Obama's "apology" can be found here.

I've waited a bit longer than most to weigh in on Obama's uninformed ignorant comments about the Henry Gates incident because I wanted the full story and was unwilling to succumb to KJS (Knee Jerk Syndrome).
The influence of such misfits, malcontents and belligerents as Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers really shone itself in Obama when he basically said the Cambridge Police Dept. were stupid, and somehow the police were wrong and gestapo-like for doing their job. Back to the old, worn out game of playing victim again. I'm sick and tired of that B.S.
I guess in the elitist world of the liberal, everybody is supposed to know who the great Henry Gates is. Newsflash, not everybody. I for one never knew who he was and I don't know of any significant contributions to mankind or society he has ever made, he's just as irrelevant to me as Joe Blow down the street, or I am to Joe Blow down the street. In perspective, he's about as important as a grain of sand on a beach, just like most everybody else in this world.
The scenario. Police recieve reports that two men were breaking in to homes in Gates neighborhood. A neighbor see's someone breaking in to Gates house and calls police. What would you do if you were the cop? Particularly when Gates became belligerent and uncooperative? What would you think? All Gates had to do was show an I.D. and comply with lawful orders of the Cambridge Police Dept. and the situation would have ended right there and been forgotten. And, in all Gates brilliance, should have been smart enough to put his keys in his pocket, this would have been avoided.
Gates should be greatful the police showed up and was looking out for his home. He should have thanked them, but instead... Both Gates and Obama should be apologizing profusely for their absolute crap behavior.
Let's look at the cop involved. Oh gee! He provides race relations training to the police dept. I can hear it now, "Yeah but he's a white guy." Anyone with that thought, congratulations. You are a racist.
That cop was recommended for that job and eventually promoted to that job by his supervisor. His supervisor by the way is a minority. A black man who based his decision on his officers performance.
For the truth in how this incident went down (NOT Obama's revisionist version) the full police report can be found here.

Getting back to the roots of Anti-Strib, which I always understood was scrutinizing the items in the paper for bias and scrutinizing what gets mentioned in the newspaper, and what does not.
Clearly the Star Tribune is in the tank for Socialized Medicine which really shouldn't surprise anyone, the paper is progressive leaning. Progressives are basically Marxist leaning Socialists.
The big news late yesterday and this morning has been the Mayo Clinic's rebuke of Obamacare Socialized Medicine. I dunno, call me crazy, but when the Mayo Clinic tells me something about what will and won't work with regards to health care, and then Barack Obama tells me something totally different about health care, I'm going to listen to what the Mayo Clinic says. Even though Barack Obama tells us he know's better than the Mayo (he does, just ask him, he'll tell you) I still have a little more confidence in the Mayo.
Now remember, this is big nationwide news, what the Mayo Clinic stated. Funny thing, I looked at the Star Tribune online edition at 7:30 AM this morning, and guess what? Not one word about it.

This was too good to pass up!
Although there are some positive provisions in the current House Tri-Committee bill – including insurance for all and payment reform demonstration projects – the proposed legislation misses the opportunity to help create higher-quality, more affordable health care for patients. In fact, it will do the opposite.
